Featuring work from some of Waitākere’s finest high school talent, the Te Uru Secondary Art Award returns for its second year. Each school is invited to nominate an outstanding work by a Year 13 Art student, with the finalists work on display here at Te Uru. E Tipu, E Rea means ‘grow, young shoot’, a reference to the budding artists as well as the galleries place here in Te Wao Nui-a-Tiriwa.

Our judge this year is Whitcliffe Senior Lecturer, Matthew Ellwood. An artist and educator with 30 years of experience across the arts sector. The First Prize winner is awarded $1,000 generously funded by Lopdell Trust. All finalists receive a $100 voucher kindly donated by Gordon Harris.
