This is an opportunity for an informal encounter with artist and 2025 Rydal Art Prize winner Ruth Ige in her exhibition The Evocation of Worlds.

In her painting practice, Ige often incorporates materials from the African continent and its diaspora that are not traditionally considered artistic media. Yet these materials play important roles in both ceremonial and everyday contexts, from ritual practices to food preparation. During this Informal Encounter, Ige will introduce visitors to materials such as onugbu leaves, alligator pepper, and osùn powder, and share how they become part of her artistic practice.

Offering a rare chance to engage directly with the artist, this event also invites visitors to encounter materials that many will be experiencing for the first time.
