Melissa Mead of Mead Ceramics is a tutor, ceramic artist, and glaze maker whose work celebrates the creativity and craftsmanship of Aotearoa, New Zealand ceramics. Based in the North Shore, she is guided by skill and intuition, creating handcrafted pottery, jewellery, and decorative ceramic homewares that are playful, expressive, and uniquely whimsical.

Originally based in Texas, USA, Mead moved to South Africa and discovered her joy of pottery, experimenting and creating. Her ceramic mugs, plates, bowls and pitchers feature a diverse range of beautifully rich colours, smooth or textured glazes, and a combination of porcelain, stoneware and clay materials, offering something for everyone to enjoy. 

This unique vase features a shino splash glaze, showcasing Mead’s thoughtful approach to colour, texture, and form. A beautiful example of handmade New Zealand  ceramics, each piece reflects the individuality and artistry of the maker.
