Herehere: a Panel Discussion
Time and location
SAT 25 JUL, 11AM
Join us on Saturday 25 July at 11am for a panel discussion accompanying Herehere with artists Sione Faletau, Kauri Hawkins, and Raymond Sagapolutele, moderated by Chevron Hassett.
Expanding on the themes of the exhibition, the artists will explore how each of them approach the cords that bind here in Tāmaki Makaurau through their own distinct practices, reflecting on migration, inheritance, and the layered histories that shape contemporary life in the city. Moving between personal narrative and broader social context, the discussion will trace how these experiences inform material choices, imagery, and modes of making.
The panel also opens space to consider the structures—historical, cultural, and institutional—that have shaped Tāmaki as a site of movement and encounter. Through dialogue, the artists will reflect on how their work navigates questions of belonging, displacement, and connection, and invites the audience to engage more deeply with the ideas and lived experiences that underpin the exhibition.
