This course invites you to look more closely at your own world and to think more deeply about how you make art from it. The first session opens with a short presentation from Richard on contemporary artists, setting the ground for the weeks ahead. Working across pencil, watercolour, gouache, pastel, or whatever media suits you, you will explore how the choices you make about medium and process shape what your work says. Richard will mentor you individually, helping you build practical skills, introducing you to relevant artists and ideas, and encouraging you to develop your own way of seeing and thinking. By the end, you will have a cohesive group of works and a stronger sense of your own creative direction.
No prior experience necessary, just curiosity and a willingness to look.
Richard is an award-winning exhibiting artist based in Tāmaki Makaurau with over 25 years teaching experience.
Suitable for all skill levels, materials provided.
