This bronze two-tine hairpin looks as if it was collected from a mermaid's treasure chest.  Hannah Upritchard is based between London and Auckland and has been making jewellery for over 20 years.  She loves jewellery that speaks... the bumps, faults and tarnishes are as much an essential part of her work as the quality of the metals and the stones; Upritchard wants her jewellery to have its own voice, to be joyful and to be as much a companion or talisman as it is a decoration.

On top of building her own body of work,  Hannah Upritchard has taught lots and lots of people how to make their own jewellery and worked on hundreds of bespoke commissions.  She believes jewellery should feel personal; it should speak to and of its wearer.  It is hugely significant to me that such a large part of my practice is the creation of commissioned and bespoke work that celebrates and acknowledges the changing world, our shifting relationships and our deep connections.

Bronze hairpins are sturdy and designed to hold different types of hair. They are cast and have a natural patina. 

Two Tine: for thick hair, shoulder-length or longer, to hold in a twist, bun or knot.
