Learn more about building an art collection. Our panel of experts will discuss the ins and outs of collecting art; things you should consider and what to look out for. This talk is perfect for those looking to buy their first artwork or those looking to refine their collection.

Linda Tyler has been an art curator at Waikato Museum, the Hocken Library, Gus Fisher Gallery and worked with the Kelliher Art Trust. Since 2018 she has been convenor of the Museums and Cultural Heritage programme at the University of Auckland.

Toss Grumley is the key Business Advisor at Grumley+Company and is a prominent figure in New Zealand’s business sector. Grumley’s credentials include an MBA from the Warwick Business School in the UK and he is currently a director and shareholder in multiple industry leading businesses. Grumley is also an avid collector and active supporter of the arts in Aotearoa.

Sonja Hawkins is co-founder of My Art, which offers interest free loans allowing collectors to buy art from partner galleries. She is a well-regarded interior designer with a career spanning 30 years.

Graeme Douglas produces The Good Oil podcast, dedicated to long form conversations with Aotearoa artists.  He is also an avid collector, motivated by a want to support the important role that artists play in reflecting who we are, and the unique experience that comes with living with art works.
