Ruth Baird Kauri Earrings

Ruth Baird started making jewellery in 1969 and works out of her home studio here in Titirangi. Her pieces are inspired by the local landscape and the cycles of the natural world.

These earrings are based on the natural shapes of kauri remnants and foliage that fall underfoot along paths and footpaths. They are intended as a reminder of the threat of kauri dieback disease facing this iconic tree. Baird uses niobium metal to create beautifully coloured leaves set onto sterling silver backings.

Earwires are sterling silver
