Green Bay High School: Concatenation

Concatenation: a group of things linked or occurring together in a way that produces a particular result or effect. This exhibition is part of Green Bay High School’s 50th Anniversary celebration events with works from Green Bay High School Visual Arts and Creative Industry students. The systematic development of a student’s often complex conceptual ideas, visually realised and evolved through multiple series, compositional investigations and media experimentation is a key focus for all creative subjects. In Senior Visual Arts this culminates in the external folio, Design and Visual Communication the resolved idea, and for Fashion Design the finished garment. The imagery exhibited as part of Concatenation is a select series of smaller works – enticing snippets from the beginnings of a student’s journey. They demonstrate the way a succession of visual inquiries combines to refine an idea. Leaving the viewer wondering ‘where did they go from here?’Included in the exhibition are works from Level 1 Art: Drawing and Painting, Level 2 and 3 Photography, Level 2 and 3 Art: Design, Level 2 and 3 Painting, Level 2 Fashion Design, and Level 3 Design and Visual Communication. Also on display are our top Level 3 Visual Art submissions from 2022. These folios represent Level 3 Excellence. A number of these folios were also successful in achieving NCEA Scholarship which signifies that the student’s work was in the top 3% of New Zealand for that academic year. An incredible achievement by our extremely hardworking students.Image: Kye Bennetts, Level 3 Photography. Image courtesy of the artist and Green Bay High School.
