Diversity: Titirangi Primary School
This exhibition is a biennial presentation of art produced by students from Titirangi Primary School. It is the culmination of a term of learning that focuses on the important understanding that the diversity within our community inspires creativity, which we can appreciate through art. Students have explored printmaking, painting, construction and clay modelling to create wonders that have been influenced both by their local community and by ideas from across the world.
Titirangi Primary School is Te Uru’s closest school neighbour with a strong focus on the visual arts and a dedicated team of teachers who regularly bring their students to visit us to gain new skills, creative knowledge and inspiration. This year they have selected local and international artists as a source of inspiration to create a diverse range of artworks. They have all been super busy exploring different media such as clay, painting, 3D sculpture, wood and wire to create Picasso-inspired fish, wooden waka paddles, clay taonga, creatures, masks, portraits, mandalas and much more.
More than 500 students have contributed to this exhibition with a vast range of unique styles and themes. From the 25th September, a selection representing each syndicate will remain on display in the Learning Centre Gallery. We are proud to showcase the range of talent from young people in our local community, which will hopefully also inspire future generations.
