The festival is born of a kaupapa in supporting and showcasing the amazing talents of local performers, and de-centring the idea that artistic production and art experiences are limited to the inner city.  \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cbr\u003ePerformance 1\u003c\/strong\u003e: \u003cbr\u003e\u003cstrong\u003e\u003cem\u003eecoecho | a moving gallery \u003c\/em\u003e\u003c\/strong\u003e\u003cbr\u003e15 NOV, 7 PM \u003cbr\u003eDirected by Claire O’Neil   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cem\u003eecoecho | a moving gallery\u003c\/em\u003e is a 45min embodied promenade-performance, an improvisation gathering performers, dancers and singers together in and amongst the structures of Te Uru’s multi-levelled gallery. The passages of improvisation draw attention to relationship, place, structures, art, memory, being together\/apart, breathing, walking, caring and an ongoing echoing of past, present and future ecologies. The performance asks: what kind of ecology\/ies do you walk with? This performance audience is guided. The work is not intended as an interpretation of any current exhibitions but a vibrant co-composition of live ephemeral matter within the Te Uru gallery spaces.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eClaire O’Neil (Scottish, Irish, Italian) is an artistic director, performance maker, dance and somatic movement educator, Balfolk dance leader, and arts review editor.  She has created, collaborated and presented over 35 performance works. She lived in Belgium for 10 years and built an international career in performance and teaching for prestigious companies in Europe. She returned to New Zealand in 2011 and achieved a Masters in Dance in 2016, Embodying Sociology Towards A Social Choreography. Currently, Claire is finishing a PhD in Creative Practice at the University of Auckland, exploring eco-somatic arts and sustainability, whilst continuing her role as Mum to her two girls, Georgie and Iris. A dancing of relations within the body of Waiopareira. A collaboration of differences through tākaro (games), rākau, kōrero and structured improvisation. Te Uru as catchment, audience as flows of species and waters. \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eRachel Ruckstuhl-Mann (Kāi Tahu, Kāti Māmoe, Kāi Te Ruahikihiki, Kāti Huirapa ki Puketeraki, Kāti Kurī), is an artist working across disciplines of dance and performance, installation, video, participatory and relational practices, as well as systems thinking and design. She is currently working towards completing a PhD in the dance department at Waipapa Taumata Rau, The University of Auckland, investigating the potential for systems change processes and the creative arts to collaborate in ways that evolve each field of practice, whilst being guided by mātauraka and tikaka Māori. Alongside a solo performance practice, Rachel has danced with and for a diverse range of artists and choreographers, including Carol Brown, Louise Pōtiki-Bryant, Charles Royal, Claire O’Neill, Cathy Livermore, Becca Wood, and Brydie Colqohoun, as well as collaborating extensively with Clare Luiten over the past ten years.   \u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003e\u003cbr\u003eThe second edition of Etena Fest will run from 31 OCT – 29 NOV, 2026.
