Jae Kang: FREE Public Programmes

As part of Jae Kang’s exhibition Gurmon Sup, Te Uru Waitakere Contemporary Gallery will host three playful programmes to stimulate your creativity. These free activities will respond to aspects of drawing and craft found in Kang’s work.

JAE KANG: ARTIST TALK

Artist Jae Kang draws inspirations equally from her training in Western and Korean drawing as well as her livelihood as a professional tomato grower. Jae will discuss her unique practice within the context of her exhibition Gurmon Sup, a creeping, crawling exhibition that promises to broaden your expectations of what drawing can be.

Sunday 17 July, 2pm

DRAWING IN SPACE

Play with pattern, colour and space through drawing with masking tape within different environments. A free open workshop for the whole family.

Saturday 20 August, 11am – 3pm

HULA HOOP WORKSHOP

Learn how to make your own hula hoop! Jae Kang is upcycling materials from both her tomato farm, as well as materials from her solo exhibition, Gurmon Sup. Explore simple ways to maximise the use of waste irrigation piping and transform them into usable and fun objects. This workshop is free and fun for all ages.

27 August, 2-2pm
